Merry Christmas!

So if you haven't guessed it by now, I'm not exactly politically correct in everything I say thus the title is Merry Christmas, not Happy Holidays, lol
But past that fact, I wanted to post this blog right before we get to the big day and just give a quick moment of thanks and happy wishes to you all.  And also to give a bit of a reminder to everyone.

In my line of work, I deal with people on a daily basis and have to be bombarded as well by Christmas music constantly.  Now, maybe I'm being a bit of a Scrooge here but after awhile, you really start to despise it.  But as I was working, I noticed a few things that I thought you all might enjoy:
  1. Christmas is NOT about coming up with catchy music.  I think that most people get this idea but so many times I hear popular artists recreating old traditional songs in hopes of revamping them and boosting sales or appealing to a new audience.  Now, there's nothing wrong with want to boost sales from a music standpoint but after awhile it's like a used coffee filter.  After so many recreations, the music and the message get watered down.
  2. Christmas is NOT about gifts.  It boggles my mind to see how selfISH people get instead of being selfLESS.  I don't have to reiterate some of the horror stories but you've heard them before: People killed in mad dashes through stores, people stabbed in line waiting for electronics, the list goes on and on.  Now, I personally know people who have gone through Christmases without and I have been fortunate enough that I have not had to but it does upset me to see people so wrapped up in themselves and not think of others who are LESS fortunate and go without.
  3. A bit of a tie-in from the last point is how rude people can be!  I think we can all get a little wrapped up in ourselves sometimes and are short with others and inconsiderate but for the most part, I choose to believe that most people are NOT bad people.  How sad it is though when you come across those people.  For you AND for them.
  4. Bottom Line: As we enter into the last week of the year, I think part of Christmas is the reflection of the past year!  Remembering the good times, and learning from the bad times as well.  I have been SO fortunate to have been blessed with a wonderful family and an amazing business this past year!  As our family gets together Saturday, part of the excitement and joy does lie in the opening of presents, the waking up early, the Christmas dinner and for us, the celebration of Christ's birth.
But, regardless of your religious beliefs, I DO hope you enjoy your day.  Whether it be with friends and family or even home alone in reflection, I would encourage everyone to think of how blessed we truly are and to count your blessings.  I love having you readers and would not do this if it was not for you all.
[But would still love some feedback on here! ;) ]

So I end with a Very Merry Christmas wish to you all and thank you for reading and to the few readers who HAVE commented on my thoughts.  Again, I would love to hear your feedback if you agree, disagree or just miscellaneous comments.  And with that, here are the lyrics to John Lennon's, "Happy Xmas (War is Over)" Til next time!

So this is Xmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Xmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young

A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

And so this is Xmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Xmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight

A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

And so this is Xmas
And what have we done
Another year over
A new one just begun
And so happy Xmas
We hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young

A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
War is over, if you want it
War is over now

Happy Xmas

  1. The rudeness gets me so much! I am not Christian, but Pagan, and we celebrated Yule on Tuesday. That was SO nice to have a great day with friends, eating great food, and having the kids do fun, special things. Ours isn't about gifts, though it is tradition to give one gift. It has become so commercialized, many people forget the reason they are celebrating during this time of year.

In essence, it is all about rebirth. To Pagans, it is the rebrith of the sun, from the longest night of the year (and the night after the Eclipse, so I got a double dose of energy from the Goddess! WHOO HOO!). To Christians, it is the rebirth of Jesus. I see more people getting ugly during this time of year than any other time of year.

But in reality, we see more of people than we normally would. Going to the mall is a nightmare...and forget the shopping centers off Powers! TOO many people in closed-in spaces. Generally speaking, people should be nicer. The media screwed up the reason for the season.

Or we could just blame Canada! ;)
